The much discussed Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) is probably not going to be executed for this present year and the Delhi University (DU) will direct merit based admissions like each year, said sources.
Delhi University admission committee has concluded that the enrollment procedure for undergraduate (UG) courses will start on August 2 while the enrollment sequence for postgraduate (PG), MPhil and Ph.D will begin on July 26. The timetable of entrance tests for the PG courses will be declared later after the enrollment registration.
"The CUCET will no doubt not going to occur this year. The PG admissions will be led like last year and the UG admissions will likewise be directed on merit premise dependent on the results proclaimed by the CBSE and state boards. The admission will be totally online like last year," said a source. The CBSE and the other state boards have been guided by the Supreme Court to announce the Class 12 results by July 31.
In any case, the Ministry of Education is yet to declare its official conclusion on CUCET. The common entrance test is essential part of National Education Policy carried out last year and was in conversation since the CBSE dropped Class XII board exams taking into account Covid-19 circumstance.
The subtleties of the admission cycle will be unveiled on Monday. Dignitary, Admissions, Professor Pinki Sharma, said, "We are yet to get an official conclusion on CUCET. In this way, the admission board has chosen a conditional date to begin the enlistment procedure for UG and PG courses. The presently concluded date is for merit based admission. In the event that CUCET isn't executed, the college will begin the enrollment procedure from the said date for the merit based admission."
